Delaware Swim School, Swim Team & Pool Rentals

Over the years, Delaware Swim School has been instructing thousands of children and adults. It is understood that everyone who enters the pool for his or her first lesson brings some fear and anxiety. Our job starts here. We take each individual and start to build security and trust. The goal is to have each person enjoy and appreciate the water.

Learning to swim is a gift that we love to give everyone. To achieve this goal, we use the “Love and Logic” method developed by Jim Fay and David Funk. Relationships are built not only with the children, but with the parents.

With great patience and love the children develop trust and security within themselves, the instructor and the water. By offering children choices, self-esteem is strengthened. We can only teach children the knowledge; they must willingly use it. Regardless of performance, these children have our unconditional respect and are treated with dignity.

REGISTRATION: Swim School students may register by phone or in-person at any Delaware Swim & Fitness location. Lesson series payment is due in full at the time of registration, or before the first scheduled lesson.

If the intended start date is rescheduled payment must be made to hold the spot for an additional week. If payment is not received by the second lesson of the chosen series, the swimmer will be removed from the program.

SERIES RENEWAL: If a swim school student wishes to renew for another lesson series payments must be received either on the last date of the previous series or on the first day of the new series. NOTE: If payment is not received and the student misses the first lesson of the new series, without prior notice of absence, the student may be dropped from their lesson time slot and assigned instructor.

LATENESS: Instructors are often booked straight through their shift. If you arrive late for your lesson you may only be provided the remaining lesson time within your scheduled time slot. If for any reason an instructor is running behind schedule you will be provided the entire lesson time.

MISSED LESSONS: There are three options available for missed lessons:

  1. One missed lesson is permitted per series. The missed lesson will be added to the end of the four week series block
  2. Swimmers can choose to receive a recreational swim pass valid for one adult and one child to swim at no charge during DSFC recreational swim times.
  3. A make-up lesson may be scheduled for a different day and time with prior notice of the intended absence. Please note, if the swimmer is absent from the mutually agreed make-up lesson the lesson will be forfeited.

REFUNDS: No refunds will be given for paid lessons. Lesson payment may be held for a future series, or up to one year to be credited to a sibling.

CANCELLATION: Lessons may be cancelled by the swim school at any time for non-adherence to the Swim School policies. In the event of instructor illness or facility closure lessons will be rescheduled at a mutually agreed upon date and time.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT: No parents/guardians are permitted on the pool deck at any time. Adults are welcome to observe from the hallway area through the glass walls.

FACILITY USAGE: All swim school students and guests are required to sign in at the front desk of DSFC upon arrival at the main entrance.

Guests who are non-members of DSFC are not permitted to utilize any area of the facility for recreational purposes without the purchase of a guest pass.

Changing facilities are located in the men and women’s locker rooms, as well as the family changing room. A diaper changing  table is also located in the family changing room for your convenience.

Restrooms are located in the locker rooms.

Guests and siblings are asked to be respectful of others while enjoying our facility, as not to block stairways, walkways, hallways, or other common areas and to maintain a reasonable indoor volume.
